Returned to this foodie heaven again on Friday evening. Having enjoyed a fabulous New Year’s Eve extravaganza here, I couldn’t believe my luck being invited out to The Boat House again. Spent my working week day-dreaming about this total gem of a place. From the first moment, walking through the door, service was beyond excellent. Two lovely drinks, just sitting waiting for us - what better way to start a perfect evening. After that, the only ‘problem’ was what to eat . . . Talk about spoiled for choice! Needn’t have worried, highly attentive and expert staff helped us finally make our decisions!! And boy, talk about spot on!! From my utterly delicious torched mackerel starter - a total food event in itself - to my PERFECTLY cooked sea bass . . . Still salivating at just the memory of the taste. This place . . . Is way too amazing to only go to on special occasions. Really. To have such an incredible restaurant on our doorstep; that would not be out of place in The Sunday Times review section, and only allow ourselves a visit for an occasional treat . . . ? Madness. Sometimes we are too quick to assume a restaurant is expensive and, as a result, we end up going to ridiculously inferior ‘restaurants’ and . . . getting what we deserve. Same old, same old. Over cooked, uninspiring and average ‘stuff’ that we could all make at home out of the freezer. Let’s face it, that’s what is mostly out there these days. Yet, pay a little bit more? What you get? Soooo much more than fantastic food. You get an experience in food: food craft, that will leave you wanting to go back, again and again. My advice? Book The Boat House. Now. That’s a FIVE � from this very happy customer!!

Fabulous tasting menu lunch!! And amazing service ! Highly recommended for a special day out and it made our stay in Bangor very memorable. Absolutely worth a detour to come here !
